Jism 2 Music Review

Jism 2 Music
Music Direction : Mithoon, Dr.Arko Mukherjee, Rushk, Abdul Baasith Saeed
Lyrics : Neelesh Misra, Dr. Arko Mukherjee & Munish Makhija

What to expect? : Given the genre of the film and considering that Jism was an excellent soundtrack, nothing less than a very good erotic romantic ride.

Abhi Abhi (Male) - K.K. Soft rock love song in sync with the Bhatt camp. Sadly, apart from KK's open throated singing, the song has nothing new to offer. Arrangements and lyrics are average. Even the tune was not so catchy for me. Still manages a repeat.
Hum To Haare (Abhi Abhi) - K.K. & Shreya Ghosal. Hear an unconventional Shreya while she tries to bring that low pitched rough erotic edge to her voice which is actually nice on ears, and comes back to her old self. KK remains the same, implies that this version is better because of Shreya.
Yeh Kasoor - Sonu Kakkar. Keyboard based romantic track with Sonu's voice dominating the scene, with a haunting effect intended but works in vain. Sonu's singing is atrocious and fails to capture the mood of the song, clearly this was not a song which is suited for the voice setup of a singer like Sonu Kakkar. Nothing to mention about the arrangements and basic tune. Worth a hear for the lyrics.
Maula - Ali Azmat. Strange sufi-rockish sad track which works mainly due to Ali's rendition with pain, giving an effect of really crying out loud, the beats, catchy loops and sudden up and down  changes in notes. Good hear!
Ye Jism Hai To Kya - Ali Azmat. Loved it! Ali's painful high pitched rock singing continues in this beautifully tuned and arranged track with a sad, nostalgic backdrop, which works to a great extent.! Ali has poured his heart out in the track which has the feel of internal rage and stress of love(lust?)!Waiting to watch this on video. Grt hear!
Darta Hoon (Adhoora) - Rushk. Rehash of the song 'Adhoora' by Pakistani band Rushk. The arrangements are a bit reduced from the original loud noisy Gothic metal setup to somewhat progressive metal backdrop, but Nazia's singing manages to maintain that secretive, sad, haunting nature. Ziyyad and Uns Mufti supports beautifully. Good lyrics.! Repeat! Good hear!
Hey Walla - Unoosha. All English nightclub track sung by Maldivian artist Unoosha which has addictive beats, excellent orchestration and super cool rendition! Good hear! Sad it doesn't come with a remix!

Verdict : Jism 2 does not live up to the expectations, but 2-3 good tracks make it a worthy hear. Some songs as standalones are a letdown, but most probably will work when infused with the situation of the movie. Have to watch out! Give the album a try!

3/5

Update : The female voice in the beginning of Abhi Abhi duet is NOT Shreya Ghoshal as tweeted by Shreya. Shreya takes over to the end of the track only.
Thanks to my friend Arjun K R for pointing this out.

Update 2 : The uncredited female singer in Abhi Abhi duet is Akriti Kakkar.

Update 3 : After repeated listens, Yeh Kasoor turned to be somewhat enjoyable, unlike what I said in my first review. But the rating remains unchanged.

Maximum Music Review

Maximum Music
Music Direction : Amjad Nadeem , Daniel , Vikram-Sawan, Devi Shri Prasad

Aa Ante Amalapuram - Malathy. Desi item dance track. Hindi version of Devi Shri Prasad's Telugu song. I hated the telugu version. No change of heart here. Absurd lyrics. Don't work. Forgetful.
Maan Qunto Maula - Raaga Boys. Music by Vikram Sawan. Sufi soft rock track. Orchestration is first class with the clearcut fusion of genres. Nice singing by the Raaga boys. Lyrics are good. Loved it!!
Ya Maula - Shafqat Amanat Ali. Music by Amjad Nadeem. Begins with the soothing sound of shehnai which continues throughout the track. A slow moving pure sufi song. Basic but apt arrangements.Singing by Amanat Ali is low pitch and haunting. Lyrics hav that longing feeling. Good One!
Aaja Meri Jaan - Tochi Raina & Ritu Pathak. Music by Amjad NAdeem. Fun intended romance track. Amit Trivedish. Singing is good. Arrangements are modern and good too. Ends up as an above average track. Good hear.
Sutta - Nadeem Khan & Tulsi Kumar. Music by Daniel. Dance track with desi flavour. Funny lyrics. But fails to hold your attention. Forgetful.
Namami Shamishaan - Bandini Sharma. Devotional shiv vandana song gets rehashed with only keyboard and violin in the background. Singing stands out. Extremely sensitive track which just flows. Good one!

Verdict : Maximum came out of nowhere, but has three very good songs which you'll totally love.! Ignore the dance tracks. Have to watchout whether the music will work or not.

Dangerous Ishhq Music Review

Dangerous Ishhq Music
Music Direction : Himesh Reshammiya

Tu Hi Rab Tu Hi Dua - Rahat Fateh Ali Khan & Tulsi Kumar. Sweet romantic track. I have a feeling that among the current music directors, only Himesh knows how to use Rahat to the maximum extent. Has a 'Kyon Ki'  feel somehow, the same beats, but its catchy. Tulsi has done a grt work too. Winner!
Has an R&B Remix and a reprise featuring the same singers. Good work.
Naina Re - Himesh Reshammiya, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan & Shreya. The combo has done magic whenevr they came together. Remember Teri Meri? Well Naina Re belongs to the three of them because all the three singers has done justification to their respective roles. There is soothness in Shreya, pain in Himesh, and feel in Rahat. Somehow, it takes you back to Himesh's earlier compositions at the time of Aap Ka Surror. Its good to see Himesh in his old self. A nostalgic track with haunting beats and pretty good lyrics. It grows on you.Good one.!
Has a remix with a 90's club feel and a reprise which is essentially the same as original.
Ishq Mein Ruswaa - Anweshaa. Mujra track. Anweshaa is a singer to watch out because she sounds so much like Shreya and her singing is so good and mature that you can't take the song out of your head. Good and soulful composition, but its not the first time HR is doing this. Winner!!
Remix was not necessary.
Umeed - Amrita Kak & Shahab Sabri. Club song? Dance track? Sufi song? No idea. The song changes from mode to mode in turns and do not essentially belongs to any specific genre. Amrita has done a Sunidhi, neverthless good. Shahab Sabri was OK. Anyway, a good one time hear. Remix is added.
Lagan Lagi More Piya - Shreya Ghoshal & Shahab Sabri. This one belongs to Shreya. She has done an excellent job in singing this slow romantic painful tune with feel so that it stands out as the best song in the album. Shahab has sung well too, but its Shreya who dominates. The beats are good and haunting and  its a perfect nighttime-sit-alone song! Winner!

Overall, Dangerous Ishq has a very good music score with each song having an identity of its own. Umeed is a let down, so excluding that the album works as a whole anyway. But if you have a feeling that Himesh has borrowed ideas from his previous compositions and made a rehash, its true. I'm getting that too. Not one of the best works of HR, not bad either. Except Umeed every song has grt potential if promoted well. Go for it!

Agent Vinod Music Review

Agent Vinod Music
Music Director : Pritam Chakraborty

I will do the talking tonight : By Neeraj Sridhar, Aditi, Shefali & Barbie. Enjoyable peppy number. Sridhar's urbane cool vocals give a refreshing feel. Aditi and Shefali is good. Progressive music arrangements. This one'll go wild in party floors for sure!
I will do the talking tonight Remix : Nothing much.
Dil Mera Muft Ka : By Nandini Shrikar, Muazzam, Shadaab and Altamaash. Mujra song. Great singing by Nandini Shrikar. Qwaali elements blended with modern beats are quite pleasent to hear. Winner.!
Dil Mera Muft Ka Remix : Good and faster.
Pungi : By Mika Singh, amitabh, Nakash and Pritam. Starts off well, quite a dance track but somewhere in between becomes monotonous. Overall an enjoyable number but not with much potential. Remix is nothing.
Raabta : By Arjit Singh & Joy. The best song the album. Comes in overall 4 versions. Slow and soulful with a looong opening or pallavi. But it grows on you. Good lyrics and good singing.
Raabta(Night at a motel) : By arjit and Hamsika Iyer. Hamsika's tender vocals add feel to the song. Grt listen.!
Raabta(Siyaah Raatein) : This has some brilliant aalaps by Arjit along with Hansika's superb vocals. Overall in an unplugged mode.
Raabta(Kehta hain Khuda ne) : By Shreya Ghoshal, Hamsika and Arjit. Shreya takes the lead but the feel remains the same. Minimal orchestration. Grt grt listen!
Agent Vinod Theme : By Amitabh, Rags and Shubhojith. Starts off like a chase soundtrack but slowly moves into rock mode. Moves through a 70's James Bond like mode. Again into the modern style.Ends off in style. Wee arranged theme which is real cool to hear.

Pritam and Saif has done magic before in Love aaj Kal and Race. The magic repeats this time. Except for Pungi all the songs has grt potential and even Pungi is quite enjoyable. With the ongoing aggressive promotions all songs will climb up the charts for sure. Raabta is the song to watch out. Go for it!

Complete Bollywood Music Analysis 2011

Complete Bollywood Music analysis 2011

2011 had been a pretty eventful year for Bollywood with a good number of films crossing the 100 crore mark. We saw Salman Khan fixing his top spot with films like Bodyguard, Ready etc..while SRK experimenting with films lyk Ra.One and Don2. A year in which we saw record being broken and re-written.

Well, my concentration is only in music. In dat case too, 2011 saw a good number of chartbusters. People to danced to the rythem of Chammak Challo nd Dhinka Chika while enjoyed the breezy tunes of Teri Meri and Haal-e-dil. Western artists like Akon and Ludacris featured in various tracks which was also the sign of global recognition of Bollywood music.

Amit Trivedi gave a killer opening to 2011 with track ‘Dilli..” from ‘No one Killed Jessica’. The song was a huge hit and saw discos dancng to it. January also saw a musical delight with ‘Dil toh Bachha hai Ji’ with Pritam composing a decent album nd songs like ‘Abhi Kuchh Dinon se’ becoming hits.

Moving into February, ‘Patiala House’, ‘7 Khoon Maaf’, and ‘Tanu weds Manu’ entertained the listners with tracks like ‘Laung da Lashkara’, ‘Daarling’, and ‘Sadi Gali’ respectively. Tanu weds Manu had also hits like ‘Yun Hi’ nd ‘Jugni’.

March was a disappointment but April bettered the situation with ‘FALTU’, ‘Dum maaro Dum’, ‘Shor in the City’, ‘Thank You’ etc.. ‘Char Baj Gayi’, ‘Dum Maaro Dum’, ‘Te Amo’, and ‘Saibo wer hits of the month.

May saw romantic albums like ‘Haunted’ and ‘Love you Mr Kalakaar’ coming up with pretty good tracks like ‘Jaaniya’, ‘Tum Ho’, ‘Bhoore Bhoore’, ‘Sarphira sa’, and ‘Kahin Se Chali aa’. Also ‘Pyaar KA Punch naama produced a funny track ‘Bandh gaya patta’.

June was the year to produce the first chartbuster in the form of ‘Ready’. Songs like ‘Character Dheela’ and ‘Dhinka Chika’ were sort of viral hits nd remained in the charts for weeks. The month also saw good albums like ‘Shaitan’ and ‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’.

July was the month of hilarious experimentation with the arrival of ‘Delhi Belli’ nd song ‘Bhaag DK Bose’ becoming a rage. All the songs of the movie were hits and ‘DK Bose’ was a chartbuster.! The good scene continued with the arrival of ‘Murder 2’ with another super hit ‘Haal-e-Dil’ and other good tracks like ‘Phir Mohobbat’ and ‘Aye Khuda’. ‘Zindagi naa Milegi Dobara’ arrived with some pretty cool tracks like ‘Ik Junoon’, ‘Senorita’ etc.. ‘Singham’ also had a couple of good tracks like ‘Saathiya’ nd ‘Maula’.

August had only two good albums. The OKOK ‘Aarakshan’ and the bumper ‘Bodyguard’. ‘Saathiyaa’ from ‘Aarakshan’ was a hit while ‘Bodyguard’ produced hits like ‘Teri Meri’, ‘I love you’, nd ‘Bodyguard’. ‘Teri Meri’ was a chartbuster and one of the most viewed and downloaded songs of 2011.

September came up with ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ which was a musical treat with almost all songs becoming hits. Songs like ‘Dhunki’, ‘Isq Risk’, nd ‘Mere Brother’ were major hits. Next we saw Pritam at his best with ‘Mausam’. “Rabba’, ‘Ik Tuhi’, nd ‘Saj Dhaj Ke’ becoming huge hits proved his worth. ‘Force’ had a couple of good songs like ‘Khaabon Khaabon’ and ‘Chahoon bhi’.

In October, ‘Love Breakups Zindagi’ produced a good track ‘Rab Raakha’. The next good album was the hyped ‘Ra.One’ with a good deal of good songs. Akon’s ‘Chammak Challo’ was the pick of the lot, which was hit even before the release due to internet leakage. Songs like ‘Criminal’ nd ‘Bhare Naina’ were also great songs. ‘Damadamm’ was next with a hit song ‘Umrao Jaan’.

November opened with ‘Miley Naa Miley Hum’ which had a couple of good tracks like ‘Haule Haule’ nd ‘Nazar Se Nazar’. The real Euphoria began with ‘Sadda Haq’ from ‘Rockstar’. Songs like ‘Katiya Karoon’, ‘Tum Ho’, Jo Bhi’ and ‘Nadaan Parindey’ were also hugely popular. November ended with a good ‘Desi Boyz’ with tracks like ‘Jhak Maar Ke’ and ‘Desi Boyz’ becoming popular.

2011 ended with three good albums ‘Dirty Picture’, ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bhal’ and ‘Don 2’.

Songs like ‘Ooh la la’, ‘Ishq Sufiana’, ‘Aadat se majboor’, ‘Thug le’, ‘Jazba’ and ‘Zara dil ko’ became hugely popular.
